How To Stop Dog Diarrhea In It’s Tracks!
March 31st, 2011Did you know that one of the most common ailments your dog will face throughout his lifetime will probably be bouts of diarrhea?
Dogs will be dogs and many times they eat something out of curiosity when you are not looking. The next thing you know you are cleaning up a big dog diarrhea mess. I know – that is the last thing you want to do isn’t it. But did you know that there is a way that you can prevent this very inconvenient occurrence?
Let’s talk about how to prevent the dog diarrhea event and what to do about it after the fact – without having to go to the vet.
1. If you want to keep your dogs digestive tract healthy on a regular basis, you can simply give your dog some plain yogurt about once per week
2. If your dog gets diarrhea, then you give him some yogurt twice a day for three to four days and that should clear it up without going to the vet.
IMPORTANT – IF YOU DO NOT SEE IMPROVEMENT WITHIN THAT TIME – TAKE YOUR DOG TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY.
OR IF YOU DOG HAS DIARRHEA AND VOMITING - TAKE YOUR DOG TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY, SKIP THE YOGURT AND DO NOT WAIT!!! Your dog can get dehydrated very easily and this could cause serious problems.
The yogurt solution works great for an everyday bout of dog diarrhea. However, you know your dog, if you even think for a minute that it could be something more than just dog diarrhea, please, please, please take your dog to the vet immediately.
The yogurt solution has saved me hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in vet bills over the years and I am ever so grateful to the person that told me about it; so now I want to pass it along to you. But I cannot stress enough that this is just for an everyday case of dog diarrhea. There are times when you MUST take your dog to the vet for treatment.
Here are the amounts of yogurt to give to your dog for everyday dog diarrhea:
Small Dogs – two teaspoons – twice a day – for three to four days if they already have diarrhea and once a week for prevention
Medium Dogs – three teaspoons – twice a day – for three to four days if they already have diarrhea and once a week for prevention
Large Dogs – three tablespoons – twice a day – for three to four days if they already have diarrhea and once a week for prevention
Thank you for reading my blog and I hope this helps you as much as it has helped me over the years!
Best Wishes!
